The last time the Mavs got together, Paul was there are expressed some interest in making a Leo Raw II. DI broke out his camera and an attempt was made. This time things were not the same. For one, Paul was not the same Rawman. The audience watching the filming saw glimpses of the old Rawman but, he never broke through. Troy was there mixing the music, DI was filming and I was directing. Even with the same crew, the magic of the original was not able to be recreated. Not being able to recreate the original made it that much better. Knowing that the footage from the first attempt was worth its weight in gold, I made plans to eventually re-edit the film. After a busy summer, I sat down at watched the footage from "Leo Raw." Seeing it again made me even more excited to restore it. I mapped out a plan for re-editing the movie and got started by creating the trailer. Over the next few months, I will be working on the re-edit. My goal is to make the movie shorter than the original running time and more watchable. A lot of footage will be cut out and compiled into a "deleted scenes" section. Because the movie will be converted to NTSC DVD format, it will be only avaliable on DVD. This will truly allow the film to presented in the way it was always intended. The sound, resolution and overall presentation of the movie will be much better. In addition to the "Director's Cut", the DVD will also feature an edited version. 2004 marks the 10th anniversary of the original filming of the film. For the anniversary, the film will be released in the summer when the Maveriks get together. For questions or comments, e-mail: ericbrown@maveriks.com |
