The gold pin is the ultimate in Maveirk Trophies.  Its significance cannot be underscored and its always on the minds of Maverik Bowlers.  Like the Stanley Cup is to Hockey, so is the Gold Pin to Maverik Bowling.

When the first Maverik Bowling Tournament was being created, Eric and Johnny got together to try and find a suitable prize for the tournament.  If the bowlers had nothing to shoot for, motivation would run thin.  If the prize wasn't good enough, competition would not be as fierce.  Finally Johnny and Eric came up with the idea for the Gold Pin.  Johnny then set out to hand craft the pin.  He used a bowling pin he acquired from a bowling alley in Idaho Falls.  The pin was painted gold and then Johnny hand painted the graphics! This took hours to complete.  Johnny then attached a trophy base to the Gold Pin to turn it into the ultimate prize!

UPDATE: At the 2006 Tournament the Proctor brothers unveiled a newly refurbished golden pin trophy complete with a fine wood base, a comemorative plaque for each past winner of the pin, and a beautiful maverik logo plaque on the front panel.  To top it all off, they threw in a customized padded case for transporting the pin.

2000 Tournament: Wyatt Salo bowled a 204 in his 2nd game to win the Maverik Kingpin.  In the last frames, it was a battle between Troy and Wyatt.  In the end, Wyatt hit a strike to secure his victory and place in Maverik Bowling History.

2001 Tournament: Brian Cates started the tournament a little slow.  In 3rd place after the first game, Brian turned it up and blasted the completion bowling a 182 in the 2nd game.  His average after the two games was enough to secure his victory by 8 pins.

2002 Tournament: After the first game of the 2002 tournament, two bowlers stood out and were poised to win the golden pin.  Shaggy and Half Pint bowled two great games and were neck and neck half way through the second game until Half Pint pulled away and won the pin with an score 178.

2004 Tournament: Tom Proctor won the Arizona tournament with a score of 156.

2005 Tournament: Tom Proctor traveled from Arizona to Orange County to defend his 2004 title.  He started slow and bowled a 133 in the first game in which DI held the lead with a 155.  In the second game Tom got hot and bowled a tournament record 7 strikes in a row and won the Kingpin with the highest ever score in a tournament with 223.

2006 Tournament: Tom Proctor, currently a native of Las Vegas, NV had the home court advantage and won his third tournament in a row with ease.  He started off strong and bowled an amazing 5 strikes with only two open frames to finish with a 192 pin three-
peat! He defended his 2004 and 2005 victories and become the first Maverik Kingpin to win three in a row.

2007 Tournament: "Jarit" VanBlankenstein, also currently a native of Las Vegas, NV had the home court advantage and broke the long winning streak of "Tommy Drama" Proctor with a solid score of 189. By bowling an amazing 6 strikes with only three open frames, Jarit becomes the first OG Kingpin in Maverik bowling history!  Jarit's self-proclaimed "unorthodox" style of bowling was the talk of the town after his amazing win.
